Orchard is a place to grow. The affordability it offers and its proximity to major aspects of urban amenity and infrastructure all contribute to its appeal among growing numbers of people, striking out west to find themselves somewhere to call their own.

Indeed, recent industry reports have revealed just to what extent that is the case.

The Housing Industry Association (HIA) is the official body of Australia’s residential and home building industry. Every year they publish numerous reports of relevance to the housing and renovation industries, covering topics such as land valuation and housing affordability, as well as trade-specific publications for the kitchen and bathroom sector.

This year, the HIA’s Population and Residential Building Hotspots Report 2018 reveals that Wyndham continues to be one of Victoria’s top spots for residential building approvals and population growth, with Tarneit, Point Cook and Truganina all ranking within the nation’s top 20 growth areas.

Tarneit, at 15th on the list, showed $299 million in new housing approvals and a 9% rise in its population, reaching 39,082 people.

Earlier insights from the population experts at .id support these findings, forecasting a growth in population to 92,000 by 2027. They also found that the percentage of two parent family households in Tarneit stands at 47%, compared to the state average of just less than 32%.

Of course, with such growth comes the need for more robust infrastructure and services to accommodate the increase in population. Thankfully, this need has not gone unnoticed, as major road upgrades get underway with the Western Roads Upgrades program and construction commencing on a new fire station in Tarneit thanks to the CFA.

There are even hints a stadium could be making its way to Tarneit, should a recent push for a new A-League team get given the green light!

All of which just makes the masterplanned community environment of Orchard an even more enticing prospect to consider, with its balance of parklands and urban spaces alongside the established conveniences of Tarneit.
