We have seen the future and the future is STEAM!

STEAM is an educational approach to learning that utilises Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics as a means of introducing students to the concepts of inquiry, dialogue and critical thinking.

In an ever more electronic world, the model aims to give children a grounding in core technological concepts while recognising the role that the humanities play in understanding how to navigate the increasing complexity of society and our tools.

Julia Gillard Library Tarneit has been doing their part to make such learning accessible with its Summer of STEAM, an innovative program for kids aged 8-13 designed to encourage hands-on experimentation with coding, robotics and electronics.

It’s a fun, engaging and instructive way for children to understand the systems tomorrow’s world is being built from, but get in quick - there’s only one session remaining and no waiting list. The final Summer of STEAM session takes place Friday 19 January at 1pm, and is free.

The Julia Gillard Library Tarneit is at 150 Sunset Views Boulevard. Book now at the Wyndham City website.
