Life isn’t always fair, or kind. Anyone can get caught off guard by its twists and turns, and before they know it find themselves living a life of hardship.

Inspired by her faith, Angela Bagnato recognised that she could do something to help those in the West who had fallen on hard times. She could provide an ear to hear, and wholesome home-style food to share.

And so Genevieve’s Community Kitchen was born. Building on her experience as a volunteer for community food programs and homeless centres, Angela’s aim since the lunch program’s founding in 2014 has been to provide connection and food security to those among us who need it most.

Originally operating out of Newport Baptist Hall, Genevieve’s Community Kitchen relocated to Tarneit Community Learning Centre in March of 2017 where, in addition to nourishing those in need, it aids students in completing their Hospitality Course and volunteers who want to get the necessary skills to earn a livelihood in the food industry.

Given its emphasis on social inclusion, food security, vocational training and the evolving needs of community, it’s no wonder that Genevieve’s Community Kitchen has attracted the support of some wonderful Community Partners.

Among them are food providers SecondBite, baked goods suppliers Lets-a-Loaf in Tarneit Central, Cedar Woods and Point Cook Lions Club and many more, including Tarneit Learning Centre and Wyndham Community Education Centre, plus many more.

It really is an example of community’s greatest qualities. If you’re looking to lend a hand, meet new faces or develop your hospitality skills, then do get along. Genevieve’s Kitchen happens every Wednesday from 12pm-2pm at Tarneit Central Community Learning Centre.
