Bird’s eye on Tarneit (and beyond)

Love them or hate them, there’s no question that drones have had an enormous impact on our visual vocabulary.

Photographic angles and vistas once only possible to achieve with helicopters have now become the province of a great many amateur and professional photographers, remote control in hand, putting in the hours to polish and perfect their drone piloting and aerial photography technique.

Superb examples of the kind of imagery that can be achieved are on show at Living In Tarneit, a unique online photo album of Melbourne’s west charting the growth of the wider area. The website is the brainchild of BT, who describes it as ‘a humble endeavour documenting the development of Melbourne’s new west’.

Among the many spectacular galleries featured on the site are aerials of Presidents Park, the newly opened Tarneit Rise Primary, Tarneit’s Julia Gillard Library, K Road Cliffs, Werribee River Spillway and more, including surrounding areas like Laverton and William’s Landing.

It’s a superb visual record of the evolution of the region, capturing the construction progress of numerous sites as well as the varied colours of the Tarneit landscape and the beauty of the wider west. And if you like the works that you see there, you can even donate to support BT’s venture here.

So take to the sky with Living in Tarneit, and see the west and its suburbs from a whole new perspective.
