First home buyers

First home buyers are flocking to Tarneit to build their homes, making the most of concessions and grants available to them to successfully enter the property market.

Welcome Concessions for First Home Buyers

New data from the Victorian state government reveals that postcode 3029, which includes Tarneit, Hoppers Crossing and Truganina had the second highest number of stamp duty concession and exemption claims in the state. These concessions and exemptions apply to first homes costing $750,000 or less, while homes under $600,000 do not attract any stamp duty.

Grants Galore

Tarneit and surrounds also had the second highest amount of buyers taking up the First Home Owner Grant. This scheme provides a one-off grant of $10,000 to buyers or $20,000 for regional properties.

Both of these schemes are part of the state government’s Homes for Victorians initiative. According to Treasurer Tim Pallas, in the two years since cuts to stamp duty were put into legislation, Victorians have saved a collective $1.3 billion on properties across the state.

“In just two years, our changes have helped tens of thousands of Victorians get a foothold in the property market,” Mr Pallas said.
