New Fresh Food Market for the West

As our Orchard community will be familiar, Tarneit has deep historical ties to the fruit growing industry of Victoria. This area to the west was once home to almost 200 acres of orchards, providing apricots, peaches, apples and more delicious varieties to the Melbourne market over many years. It’s no surprise then that the recently announced fresh produce market for Point Cook has us very excited! The new fresh food market will be the first of its kind in the area, making this very good news for the West as a whole.

VCAT recently approved plans for the new Starr Point Market, which once completed will boast 93 undercover stalls spread over 8,000 square metres. The market will offer a mix of locally grown fresh fruit, vegetables and meat as well as a range of non-food items such as clothing and homewares.

The market will be located on Point Cook Road and is also set to include basement parking, water storage facilities and eight greenhouses.

Once up and running the market will act as a great fresh food offering for the local area, adding to existing nearby shopping offerings such as Tarneit Gardens.
