Melbourne Ganesh Festival 2018

The Melbourne Ganesh Festival returns for its third successive year this September! Founded to spread a message of peace and harmony, the event will also honour the benign figure of Ganesh, god of new beginnings, wisdom and intelligence with the exhibition of a special Ganesh idol brought from India.

Organised by the not-for-profit Maharashtra Businesses and Professional Council Australia, its focus is to celebrate the cultural diversity found within the Wyndham community and promises to be a special day indeed with sensational food, rides and family entertainment, including a traditional Maharashtrian drum concert.

In India, the Festival of the Elephant God is an 11-day traditional event featuring hymns, offerings and prayers, given in tribute to Ganesh both privately and publically. Melbourne’s festival, to be held at the Werribee Indoor Sports Centre, takes place from 11am to 6.30pm on Saturday September, falling within the festival period.

Founder Vinayak Kolape, a Melbourne resident, hopes the event can raise funds and increase awareness for local and selected charity organisations. Interested in learning more? Contact the organisers on 0411477329, or visit the event's Facebook page.
