We’ve looked at some of the parks near you previously, but it seems there’s been an explosion of new playgrounds and facilities for families of Wyndham City and Melbourne’s west over the last twelve months. Let’s play!

AEROPLANE PARK, TARNEIT

Given the aeronautical history of the Wyndham Vale area, this playground is a nice acknowledgement of the region’s past.

Not only that, but Aeroplane Park has been designed with accessibility in mind, with an appropriate range of play activirtes plus ramps, wide platforms and plenty of room for carers where required.

The centrepiece though is undoubtedly the 17m long Cargo Plane, with a cockpit featuring two control columns with instrument and educational play panels. It’s accompanied by other flight-themed equipment including an Aviator character play panel, and looping plane Springer.

All budding flyboys and flygirls are sure to love it!

JUBILEE PARK, WYNDHAM VALE

Jubilee Park in Wyndham Vale raises the bar quite literally, it’s unique and striking design perhaps best suited for slightly older kids from five up (or accomplished little climbers).

Why? Because the two main slide towers – connected by a rope tunnel - are accessible only via a web of ropes rather than ladders, making it quite the challenge for smaller kids.

Nevertheless, there’s plenty to do on the ground with sand pits, mini trampolines, spinners, swings and more.

And since you’re close to Wyndham Vale station, Coles and more, you can grab a bite to bring along for the kids and spend a little time over lunch.

LEAP FROG PARK, POINT COOK

It’s well known that frogs are a good indicator of a healthy habitat, so it’s fantastic to see this frog-themed play park pop up not too far from Tarneit in Point Cook!

Although a fairly small playground, it’s packed with fun things to do and has been designed to accommodate kids on the autism spectrum with a focus on sensory totem poles in addition to the enormous 2.6m high frog cubby house in the centre of the playground.

There’s also a leapfrog related game, plus tadpole rockers, froglet steppers and climbing ropes. It’s certainly made a splash in Point Cook, so next time you’re stuck for something to do and are in the area with the kids, check it out!
