The days are long, the sun is out and the kids are on school holidays – perfect conditions for summer fun at the Werribee City Centre Pop up Park! Running from January 10 – February 2, this year’s program is jam-packed with free events and activities for all ages.

From community workshops and classes to live music and twilight movies, we’ve got a breakdown of all the Pop Up goodness.

Friday Night Live
Every Friday night, the Pop Up Parks invites music lovers to pull up a picnic blanket at Station Place to enjoy an evening of tunes under the stars!

Organisers have really outdone themselves with this year’s lineup, set to feature some serious Aussie music icons. Pete Murray will kick off the free concert series on January 10, followed by eighties powerhouse the Eurogliders and ARC (featuring members of Spiderbait, Jet, Powderfinger and You Am I). The series will be closed out by the legendary Joe Camilleri and The Black Sorrows – a gig not to be missed.

These big-name acts will be supported by local performers and DJs, with the fun starting at 5:30pm every Friday.

Outdoor Cinema
Quite possibly the coolest spot in town to catch a movie, the Pop Up Park offers cinemagoers a new family-friendly flick every Saturday night. Screening from the child-friendly time of 6pm, patrons can choose from Aladdin, Toy Story 4, Dumbo and Wonder Park. And for those arriving early, there will be lawn games and free kids craft from 3pm until the movie begins.

Bring along your favourite picnic snacks or indulge with your favourite take away – you’ll find plenty of options in Werribee City Centre.

Sunday Funday
Sundays are for market stalls, food and lawn games at the Pop Up Park.

Each week will see a new flavour from around the globe take centre stage, showcasing the cuisines and culture of that region. Beginning with a dedicated Mexican fiesta, the first Sunday Funday will feature street eats from Dos Amigos Food Truck, Sally’s Country Corn and Phat Franks. There’ll also be a three-piece Mariachi band!

From there, the journey continues to Asia with food from District 3030, Rai Thai and Phat Franks plus Chinese Rainbow Dances. And last but not least, Sunday Funday heads to Ireland with street eats from Jimmy O’Neills, The Wee Kitchen and Phat Franks. There’ll also be performances from the Irish Dempsey Dancers to put a get the crowd jigging along.

Free Classes & Workshops
Not forgetting the weekdays, the Pop Up Park is also bringing a great range of community workshops, crafting and fitness classes for young and old.

For the kids, there’s a whole range of activities to keep them entertained. They can try their hand at robotics, enjoy craft workshops and hip hop classes. And for the very little ones, Hey Dee Ho sessions offer music and activities specifically for babies to pre-schoolers.

As for the adults, there are dance and fitness classes offering everything from tai chi to Samoan dance. Great if you feel like getting active before work or on your lunch break!

It’s definitely going to be a jam-packed few weeks of summer fun! Visit the Wyndham City website to view the full Pop Up Park program.
